Obituary
Alan Roy Abbott, 65, of South Charleston, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on December 28.
Alan was born to the late Roy Abbott, Jr. and Betty Jane (Gwinn) Abbott. He was a graduate of Walton High School and retired from the Public Service Commission. Alan worked for the State of WV for over 35 years.
Alan is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Joyce Abbott, his daughter Angela (Eric) Haynes, his grandchildren Michael Milam, Caleb Haynes, Skylar Haynes and great granddaughter, Paislee Haynes. Alan is also survived by his brother Joel (Sherry), nephews Matthew (Kirsten) and Adam, and their families. In addition, Alan is survived by many extended family and close friends.
Alan had a quick wit and was a dedicated musician who played guitar and sang throughout his many years in different bands. He loved to fly fish and hunt. He loved and adored his close and extended family. He was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

I am saddened by the news of Alan’s passing. I will always cherish the memories of fishing with Alan on the Williams river during our annual PSC fishing trip. I hope that the fishing is good and the weather is fine where he is now!
