Obituary
Anna Elizabeth Hunter-Jones, at the age 88, departed from this world on July 4, 2025, and is now in the presence of her Heavenly Father. Anna’s close friends and acquaintances knew her as “Kitty” Jones.
Mom was one of six children born to Prince and Pearl Hunter. Her sisters are Betty J . Hairston, Mary “Susie” Gwynn and Cynthia “Cindy” Drayghon, and her brothers are Prince “Butch” Hunter Jr. and Robert Clarence Hunter.
Mom was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved by many, loved the Lord, and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Paul Dunn. Mom was a high-spirited, easygoing, and good-natured woman who was always willing to help those in need.
In the early 1970s, mom commenced her career at Saint Francis Hospital, located in Charleston, West Virginia. At first, she worked in the housekeeping department; however, shortly thereafter, she transitioned to the Central Service Department as a technician. In her role as a Central Service Technician, her main responsibilities involved the sterilization of surgical instruments. Although mom was not present in the operating room during surgical operations, her role as a Central Service Technician facilitated the work of doctors and operating room staff.
Mom is survived by her sons: Terrance Dwayne Hunter, of Morgan Hill, California, Jeffery Allen Hunter, of Jacksonville, Florida, Derrick Lee Hunter, of Scottsdale, Pennsylvania, Darryl Glenn Jones, of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Harold Lee Jones, of Charleston, West Virginia; daughters: Cheryl Lynn Snodgrass, of Charleston, Lisa Ann Hunter, of Charleston, and Carmen Denise Jones, of Charleston.
Also left to mourn Anna are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All who knew and loved mom and will sadly miss her. She has moved to a better place, with no more pain and suffering, because she is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
If mom were able to speak to us today, she would say, get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling, and slander that includes any form of malice. Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving of one another, just as Christ died for and forgave us. Do not be anxious or worry about anything, but in everything pray and present your desires to God who transcends all understanding. God will always guide your hearts and minds, in Christ Jesus.
Mom,
We love and respect you for all that you have given to all of us, including the gift of life. You will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing you.
Love,
Your Children
