Obituary

Anne R. Jester of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 79.

Anne was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, but grew up in Charleston, where she attended local schools. Anne attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia, where she excelled in English and poetry composition.

After Mary Baldwin, Anne lived in Maryland and eventually moved back to West Virginia, where she resided until her death.

Anne did not seek titles or accolades, but found purpose in her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and her church. Anne was a talented seamstress who made beautiful doll clothes for her nieces and beautiful cross stitch pillows. She loved gardening and all creatures great and small, providing a loving home for many a stray dog and cat over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kennedy and Marjorie Rippetoe.

Anne is survived by her sisters, Marjorie “Meg” Matthews of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Elizabeth Sayre (Steve) of Ripley, West Virginia; her children, Penn Jester, Jason Jester, Hope Beals, and Leigh Nimb, and eight grandchildren.

While the family mourns her death, we know that Anne is now at peace in the arms of Jesus and her loving family that preceded her to death.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anne’s memory to Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association, 1248 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311 or St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 405 B Street, St. Albans, WV 25177.
