Obituary
Augusta Brown passed away on December 27, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 28, 1948, as the eldest of nine children.
She was a lifelong resident of West Virginia, having attended Tridelphia High School in Elm Grove. After high school, Augusta moved to Charleston to find employment. As an avid reader, it was not a surprise when she found work as a librarian. She enjoyed watching sports, singing in her church choir and playing the drums at the local community center. She retired after having a long career working for the State of West Virginia.
Augusta was preceded in death by her mother Jeanette Black, her son Mario Black, her sisters Jauris Stallworth and Alfreda Mason, her brothers Vincent Black, Ricky Black, El Black, and Albert “Rod” Fuller.
She is survived by her son Anthony Brown and her brothers Fred Black of Jacksonville, FL, and Dillet Black of Manvel, TX, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV, with the Pastor Lloyd Hill officiating.
Visitation will begin one hour prior at the funeral home.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.barlowbonsall.com.
Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

I remember Augusta Brown as being one of the nicest people to work with at the State of WV. She was a lovely person and wanted to do good for everyone.

My sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family of Augusta. My mother Anne Myers was a friend of hers as they sang in the choir together and played drums together as well. She is heartbroken of the loss of Augusta and sends her condolences as well.
