Obituary

Barbara a. Knight 82 of charleston, wv passed away wednesday, october 11, 2017 at camc general hospital.

Barbara was a stay at home mother while her children were in grade school. Later in life she returned to her studies ultimately earning her master’s degree in education and becoming a teacher. She received her first degree from cornell university and later finished her studies with the west virginia state graduate university.  she loved working with the little ones at loudendale and midway elementary before she retired.

Barbara was a lifelong member of the alpha omicron pi sorority.   she enjoyed many traveling excursions with her knitting and quilting friends.

She was active in numerous endeavors at st. John’s episcopal church.

She was born in rochester, new york to the late kenneth and winifred berger. Besides her parents, preceding her in death was her second husband, richard knight and two children, the oldest child, carol ann smith and the youngest child, peter swartz.

She is survived by her son; robert (sara) swartz; stepdaughter, nancy hamilton; grandchildren, larkin (julie) swartz, elizabeth smith, victoria smith and payne alexander; and sister, mary ellen (richard) mcdougal.

Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.M. Tuesday, october 17, 2017 at st. John’s episcopal church, charleston with the rev. Marquita l. Hutchens officiating.
