Obituary

Barbara ann jelich tyler, 84, went home to the lord on october 2, 2019 at her daughter’s home in charleston, wv.

Service will be held saturday, october 12, 2019  at the basilica of the co-cathedral of the sacred heart,  1114 virginia street east.

Viewing from 9-10 am in the welcoming space.  funeral mass to follow at 10 am. With  rev. Binu emmanuel will officiating the mass.

Barbara was born to stephen and josephine jelich on september 26, 1935 in monongah, wv. She married robert e. Tyler, sr. On january 7, 1956 and raised seven children together in charleston.

She is survived by brothers john jelich, frank jelich (beth), joseph jelich (carol);  and sister josephine campbell. Surviving son, robert e. Tyler, jr. (jeannie);  daughters christine miller (john), barbara rhodes (michael), mary cook (ronald), and jackie reynaga (sefarino). She is also survived by 9 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, 14 great-grandsons, and 6 great-granddaughters. And many beloved nephews and nieces.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, robert; sister mary hart (roland);  brothers, anthony jelich, and stephen jelich;  son, stephen tyler (alisa); daughter, rose given (leslie); and grandson daniel tyler.

Aside from being a full-time mother to seven children, barbara was employed by st. Francis hospital as a nursing assistant for 18 years. She was an active member of her community and devoted to her faith. She was the core of our family – loving, giving, caring, and self-sacrificing. She was our pathway to faith, stability, love, and forgiveness. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched while on this earth.

Christine would like to acknowledge the individuals who helped care for barbara with love and kindness during the last year of her life. Deepest gratitude to heather, cherie, marilyn, patty, virginia, leigh, julia, haley, bailey, alysa, and hope from the right at home program. Special thanks to tiffany, her nurse from mountaineer. Many thanks to nikki and jennifer from hospice care, as well as erica and sheila from camc physicians. To all the many others who assisted in her care, we thank you all.
