Obituary
Barbara j. Martin, 63, of bridgeport, passed away on march 15, 2017 in charleston, wv, surrounded by her family.
She was born in st. Louis, mo, on july 20, 1953, a daughter of austin r. And dorothy c. Tinsley.
Surviving are her husband, john d. Martin ii, who she married on july 27, 1974; her sons, douglas c. Martin and his wife, kathryn, of roanoke, va, and curtis b. Martin of charleston, sc; her brother, james c. Tinsley, and his wife, karen, of plant city, fl; and her brother-in-law, manuel medina, of henderson, nv.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, linda medina.
Barbara had a wealth of amazing friends that have provided unending love and support to her and her family through the years. Barbara’s family was incredibly important to her, and her love for her family was unquestionable, as is their continued love for her. She was the beating heart in a family filled with love, and her remarkable loving and fighting spirit continues on with those that knew her. Barbara loved to laugh with (and at) her family, and to travel, dance, spend time with her friends, read nearly anything she could get her hands on, and enjoy the peace and quiet of her backyard on beautiful days. She also loved dogs, and her favorite was the family dog, rolex. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her husband, regardless of what they were doing, and seeing her boys happy.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, her family respectfully requests that contributions can be made in her name to family house (familyhouse.Org), or the humane society of harrison county (hshcwv.Org).
