He passed away on September 17, 2025, at home in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Ben was a graduate of George Washington High School and Shepherd University, and a member of Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston, West Virginia.
Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marion and Betty Spelock; Dr. Walter B. Homan; Mary Lou Thomas; and Rose Mariani. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Thomas R. Homan and Sandra S. Mariani (Kenneth); his sister, Leah M. Homan (Cameron Mullikin); stepsister, Courtney L. Mariani; stepbrother, Nicholas G. Mariani (Kelsi); and grandfather, Guido Mariani. Ben had a spirit of kindness, love, and compassion. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing on his family farms.
