Obituary

Bernice d. Cohen, formerly of charleston, wv, passed away at her home in jackson, oh on october 10, 2017 .  mrs. Cohen was born april 10, 1927  to sylvester & verna allen of wilgus, oh.  she was preceded in death by her husband, raymond cohen, of charleston; brothers: ralph, arnold & chester allen; grandson jason morgan of ironton, oh and granddaughter kelli smith of so. Point, oh.

Survivors include daughters; barbara (clyde) clark, jackson, oh and delores smith of so .Point; one son. Thomas sanders, raceland, ky;   sisters: dorothy hoffman, edna & sherry allen, and sandy tittle of ga; grandsons. David smith, so. Point; scott (teresa) sanders, chesapeake and mike (kimmi) clark of oak hill, oh; granddaughters: alicia (mike) large, coal grove, oh; tammy carrado, cincinnati, and jaime sanders, ironton, oh; great-grandsons: nathanial morgan, ironton; sam & tanner large, coal grove, oh;  tyler sanders, chesapeake, oh and connor clark of oak hill, oh; and great-granddaughters: natasha & natalia morgan and maya dingess of ironton, oh, and isabella smith..

Bernice, known as bea to her many charleston friends, was very active in many ladies clubs including the women’s club of the jewish temple, a frequent cruise patron with the former jolly travelers, attended all the symphonies, supported many charities and was a faithful volunteer and friend to all.

She will be missed by all; especially her greatest friend patricia dickson of st. Albans, who became like another daughter to bea.  bernice was definitely a beautiful lady .Inside and out.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 pm., thursday, october 12, 2017, at barlow bonsall funeral home with rabbi james d. Cohn officiating. Burial will follow in b’nai israel cemetery.

    Bea Was A Wonderful Friend. I Enjoyed Many Times With Her At The Woman’S Club. My Husband & I Played Bingo Under Her Leadership Many Times. She Was Always A Barrel Of Fun!
