Obituary

Betty A. (Maze) Lowther, 75, of Charleston, WV, formerly of Glenville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2024. She was born December 21, 1948, in Columbus, OH.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Maze of Charleston; previous spouse, Clyde Parsons of Cox’s Mills, WV, the father of her children; a son, Clyde Parsons, Jr.; a sister, Connie Radcliff; brothers, David Jones and Larry Price,  and one great-grandson.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Mary Fluharty and son-in law Charles Fluharty of Charleston; brothers, George (Betty) Jones of Kenna, WV, Lloyd (Connie) Stewart of Glenville; sister, Charlotte (Gary) Radcliff of Glenville; four grandchildren, Chuckie, Samantha, Rachel and Jennifer; nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Leading Creek Baptist Church and a support member of the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Dept. for 11 years as kitchen manager, Founder of the GCVFD Kids Club and Annual Christmas Parade Toy Drive, Tyler County Search and Rescue and Community Emergency Rescue Team. She enjoyed cooking, camping, working in the garden and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty will be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned for a later date.
