Obituary
Betty m. Reynolds, 90, of charleston, passed away on friday, june 23, 2017 at kanawha place, charleston, from the complications of alzheimer’s disease.
She was born on september 8, 1926 to the proud parents of albert e. Mccracken and hallie whittington here in charleston. Betty graduated from stonewall jackson high school in 1945 and began employment with chesapeake and potomac telephone company, starting on the switchboard in 1946 and working her way up to executive secretary, and finally retiring from management in their employment office in july 1978. she is a life member of the telephone pioneers.
After a long courtship, she finally agreed to become the bride of john a. Reynolds in august 1969. having no children of her own, she concentrated on her brother’s children and her nieces and nephews, barry and peggy mccracken, jeff and iva mccracken, scott mccracken, and sandra bourgeois and her children who reside in ripley.
Betty loved good clothes and did some modelling in her younger days.
She was a lifelong resident of charleston and a graduate of stonewall jackson high school.
She is also survived by her husband, john a. Reynolds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, bernard mccracken.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, friday, june 30, 2017 at barlow bonsall funeral home, 1118 virginia street, east, charleston with rev. James robinson officiating. burial will follow at donel c. Kinnard memorial state veterans cemetery, dunbar. friends may call 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
