Obituary

Betty Sue Clark Stanley, 80, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023, surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Betty was born on November 30, 1942 in Southern West Virginia. She moved with her family to the Charleston area as a teenager. Betty graduated from South Charleston High School and attended West Virginia State College.

Betty retired from Social Security and was a leader in the Dunbar Chapter of Recovery INC. She enjoyed being a part of planning for her High School reunions.

Betty loved spending time with her family and had many friends.

She is survived by her brother, James Clark; her children Dianna Jane Gertz, Charlene Annette Seabolt, Charles Clark Stanley; her grandchildren William Steven (Cloe) Miller, Kristina Ann (Joe) Cato, Melissa Sue Snead, Kevin Gertz, Jr. and Amy Jo Stanley. She also leaves behind many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.

    I met Betty through her son Clark, a friend of my daughters. She was always so gracious and pleasant to talk to. I’m certain her family will miss her. My condolences to all.
