Obituary
Buffy Dawn Bonwell passed away peacefully on December 18, 2023.
Born on December 29, 1971, in Charleston, WV, Buffy had a strong faith and grew up going to Point Lick Gospel Tabernacle, Charleston, WV. (Pastor: Larry Campbell). She was a graduate of Dupont High School, Class of 1989, and went on to get her degree in Nursing from the University of Charleston in 2001.
She had a strong passion for helping people of all ages which drew her to the Nursing field. Over the years, she worked at various medical hospitals, eventually finding a job at the Davis Child Shelter. She loved her work and loved helping the kids during their time at the shelter. Many times, she would say it doesn’t feel like work when you see the difference you make with these kids’ lives.
Buffy was married for 26 years to Robert A. Bonwell, Jr. Together, they raised two kids, Zoey Corin Bonwell (22) and Robert Flechyr Bonwell (18). She would mention weekly that the kids had her heart and she would do anything for them. The kids always kept Buffy and her husband busy, from Zoey’s activities in the Arts and Flechyr’s Hockey trips.
Buffy is survived by her husband, Rob, and their two kids, Zoey and Flechyr; her mother, Karen Charlene Young, and her sister, Ketta Hanson, her late husband Bobby Hanson, and their kids, Oscar, Gracie and Max.
From Rob: “Buffy’s life on this earth was too short and she will forever be missed and loved and will always have a piece of my heart as my wife.”
From Mom: To Buffy: “I was the first person to kiss you and hold your hand on 12/29/1971 and the last person to kiss and hold your hand on 12/18/2023. You are forever loved. Mom.”
Buffy’s service will be kept to her wishes as a small private ceremony.

Tim and I send our love during this difficult time. Buffy was a kind person and I enjoyed knowing her for the few years that I did. We laughed a lot a CrossFit and tennis. I know she will be missed.

To Buffy’s family and friends and loved ones my condolences. I have known Buffy practically my entire life although we lost touch after high school. She lived above my family up Coal Fork Drive . She was a wonderful thought human being.
