Obituary

Carrie Paxton, born on March 15, 1978, passed away on January 4, 2025, in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Her departure leaves a profound void in the lives of her loved ones and all who were loved by her.

Carrie was the beloved mother of Brandon Paxton (Kayla Paxton) and Rachel Paxton (Shawn Bethel) and the cherished grandmother to five grandchildren: Nova Paxton, Mattielynn Paxton, Raymond Paxton, and Jason Phalen. Remained in death her partner, Micheal Lester, and ex-husband, Richard Paxton, Jr. She had a very close and nurturing relationship with her nieces, Ashley Parsons and Alexis Chandler, acting like a second mother figure to them, providing support, guidance, and love in a way that went beyond a typical aunt’s role. She is also survived by her parents and siblings, Lois Mullins (mother) and Thomas Chandler (father), April Seals (sister) and Tony Chandler (brother) who remain to carry forward her memory.

A lover of animals and nature, Carrie found her greatest joy on her back porch, surrounded by the critters she cared for so deeply. Stray cats were never without a meal from her leftovers, and deer and squirrels thrived thanks to the abundance of corn she provided. Her yard was a sanctuary for birds with its many feeders and houses. Her “poop dogs,” as she affectionately called them, held a special place in her heart; she loved them as if they were her own children. Carrie’s kindness radiated through her actions. Though she had a protective exterior, once you earned her trust, you were met with a heart of gold, like basking in the serenity of a sunset on the beach. She was a fiercely strong-willed woman.
