Obituary

Cecilio melchor dela victoria delgra, md, 79, of charleston, passed away monday, jan. 20, 2014, at charleston area medical center (camc), general division.
Cecilio was born in 1934, in catbalogan, samar, the philippines, to the late rosario dela victoria and martin delgra, sr, egn.  cecilio married lolita galvez, md in 1964 and emigrated to the united states after they were married, living in several areas including, new jersey, delaware, logan, west virginia, pennsylvania and ohio finally settling in charleston, wv in 1983.

He graduated from college at the university of san carlos in cebu, the philippines in 1956 and received his doctorate of medicine (md) from the cebu institute of medicine, cebu, the philippines, in 1962.  dr. Delgra attended internship and residencies at st. Peter’s medical center and middlesex general hospital in princeton, nj, in emergency medicine and surgery.  dr. Delgra practiced as an emergency physician and surgeon in several areas, including logan general hospital and man appalachian regional hospital.  in 1982, dr. Delgra completed a residency in anesthesiology at the medical college of ohio in toledo.   he was recruited to charleston, wv in 1983 as an anesthesiologist with general anesthesia services practicing at camc, primarily the general division serving patients from around the area for over 27 years.  he was an active member of the sacred heart co-cathedral and the philippine medical association of west virginia and a fervent supporter of west virginia university and the clay center for arts and sciences of wv.  he was a loving and dedicated husband and father, an avid gardner, tennis player, dancer (especially the tango), personal investor, amateur financial consultant, career counselor, and oj simpson trial conspiracist.
In addition to his parents, cecilio was preceded in death by his brother martin victoria delgra, jr and sister ambrosia farrah victoria delgra.
Dr. Delgra is survived by his wfie, lolita galvez; his children, lucelo galvez delgra, lemwel galvez delgra, md, catalina delgra brockman, md, cecilio cj galvez delgra md, carmela galvez delgra, and claribell delgra shreeves; his 14 grandchildren, lukas taylor delgra, alex hayden delgra, isabella victoria delgra, celina emmanuel maramba delgra, ava marianna maramba delgra, vivian christianna maramba delgra, samuel adore maramba delgra, elaina evageline maramba delgra, james caleb brockman, joshua quinn brockman, jolie grace catalina brockman, grayson reilly delgra, aaliyah noel shreeves, and judah benjamin shreeves; his siblings, glicerio victoria delgra, eng, florencio jesus victoria delgra, eng, cesaria patocinio victoria delgra, and tomassa victoria delgra,

visitation will be at barlow-bonsall funeral home on friday jan. 24, from 6-8 pm with a novena to follow.
Funeral services will be at sacred heart co-cathedral  at 11:00 a.M. Saturday, jan. 2014.
