Obituary
Charles “Buddy” Sneed, born on August 15, 1942, passed away on January 12, 2024, at the age of 81, after bravely facing diabetes and dementia.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Minnie Sneed, and sister, Joyce Daske.
Buddy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Regina; daughters, Stacy Sneed (married to Todd Creamer) of Advance, NC, and Laura Winland of Cincinnati OH, along with his cherished grandchildren, Julio, Joe, Maddie, and Alex.
A pillar of the community, Buddy was the proud owner of Sneed’s Vacuum and Sewing Center in Charleston, a business he purchased from his parents and successfully operated for 60 years until his retirement in 2017. The closure of his business was met with sadness from his many loyal customers and friends.
Devoted to his faith, Buddy was a follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of Bible Center Church. His commitment to service extended to his time in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1966. A 1960 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Buddy enjoyed long car rides in favorite Mustangs, traveling, and his two cats, Lulu and Zoey. In his youth, found excitement in drag racing and The Chargers Car Club.
In a final act of generosity, Buddy left his body to West Virginia University for scientific research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and medical understanding. This selfless decision reflects his commitment to making a lasting impact even beyond his lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the rescue group “Itty Bitty Kitty Committee” or “The Bible Center Church,” both located in Charleston, WV. Your contributions to these organizations will honor Buddy’s memory by supporting causes close to his heart.
In honoring Buddy’s memory, let us remember the legacy of a compassionate family man, successful entrepreneur, and faithful servant. May he rest in peace, leaving behind a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I just found out today. I’m so sad to hear of Buddy’s passing. Regina, my heart goes out to you. I recall him telling me all the benefits of the vacuums that were sold at the shop. I think he was trying to sell it to me. It’s years later and we have owned that vacuum longer than the others that we have owned. He believed in his business and had so much pride in it and I admired him for that. Buddy was a great guy. He will be missed.
