Obituary

After a long, hard battle with COPD and cancer, Charles “Burton” Hamrick, 67, of Charleston, WV, passed away peacefully in bed on the early morning of October 14, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Latefie (Soloman) Hamrick; sister, Caroline King (Jeff); brothers, Mike Hamrick (Beth) and Waldo Hamrick, and grandson, Rohan Jayden Stapler.

Burton is survived by his baby sister, Marilyn Cook. He is also survived by his fiancée of 31 years, Joyce Hamilton, and their two daughters, Crystal Stapler (Ryan) and Mattie Hamrick. In addition, he survived by Barbara Turley, Kelly Hamrick, and Charles Hamrick (Hannah).

He was a proud father of five, “PawPaw” of nine, Zachary, Chasity, Makayla, Alex, Tyler, Hunter, Ali, LB, and Layel, as well as a great-grandfather of one, Cameron

He will be deeply missed by all of us.
