Obituary
Charles carson simpson (chuck), 77, passed away july 10, 2014. He was born in charleston, wv on july 19, 1936 to the late mary carson simpson and harry michael simpson. He graduated from stonewall jackson high school in 1954 and earned a full scholarship to play football at west virginia university. He was a redshirt freshman quarterback and wore his blue and gold proudly. He graduated with a physical education degree. He was a member of phi delta theta fraternity and developed lifelong friendships while in morgantown and throughout his life. A football injury shaped his career decision to attend dt watson physical therapy school at the university of pittsburgh. He married his high school sweetheart, margaret ann riley, and they headed to ambridge, pa. Upon graduating, they moved to charleston where he worked for a year with marmet hospital while he started his own practice in 1961. He was the first physical therapist to open a private practice in the state of west virginia. He loved his profession and helped countless patients through physical therapy and comic relief. He worked for 51 years and finally retired at 75.
His greatest loves were grouse hunting, fly fishing, and his family, but not necessarily in that order. He spent every minute he could with family and friends at his cabin in green bank, wv. He loved to entertain and when his brothers visited, they would sit for hours and share childhood memories and double over with laughter. His laughter was contagious. He will be remembered for his charm and wit. His smile will never be forgotten. He loved his girls more than life itself and they could do no wrong in his eyes. He taught them the meaning of hard work, dedication, and love of life and family. The grandkids loved their grandy and entertained him as much as he did them. He was their best audience and giggled as they made fools of themselves. There is no finer man and god has truly received an extraordinary angel.
Totally heartbroken, left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, are his wife of 56 years, margaret ann riley simpson and his five daughters, amy simpson, kelly simpson whiting, stacy simpson craig (brad), shelly simpson kelley (mike), and lori simpson nettles (travis); nine grandchildren, carson and riley whiting, cameron, andrew and caroline craig, chuck and jack kelley, and ty and clay nettles; and his beloved hunting dog, tess. He is survived by his younger brother, jim simpson (beth) and their children, jay and mary beth simpson, sister-in-law ann simpson and nephews, chip and matt simpson, brother-in-law bob riley (sharon), mike, pat, jeff and craig riley and their families. Sadly, his older brother, mike simpson passed away on the same day.
He was a member of the american physical therapy association, a lifetime member of the west virginia university alumni association, a proud sponsor of the mountaineer athletic club for 35 years, a sponsor of the directors club, a mason with the scottish rite, a member of knights templar, and beni kedem shriners.

I Did Not Know Mr. Simpson But I Know How Hard It Can Be To Lose A Loved One In Death So I Wanted To Say I Am Very Sorry For Your Loss. The Scripture That Has Given Me Comfort At Times Like This Is The One Found At Revelation 21:4 That Says, “And He Will Wipe Out Every Tear From Their Eyes, And Death Will Be No More, Neither Will Mourning Nor Outcry Nor Pain Be Anymore. The Former Things Have Passed Away.” So God Has Promised That In The Very Near Future We Will Never Have To Experience The Pain Associated With Death Anymore. I Pray That This Gives The Family Some Comfort During This Difficult Time.
