Obituary
Charley r. West, ii, 76, of charleston, passed away friday, december 30, 2016 at the eastbrook nursing home, charleston.Charley was born on may 22, 1940 to the late charley roy and beulah workman west.He was a member of the teamsters union 175 and drove for kanawha cartage, as well as liquid transport.Charley was a christian, longtime resident of charleston and a graduate of charleston high school, class of 1959.He was a member of the charleston masonic lodge and was an avid outdoorsman.In his younger years, charley was a well-known and well accomplished stock car driver and his love of racing continued with his enjoyment of riding motor cross motorcycles and atv’s throughout the rest of his life.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, diane; and grandson, charley roy “croy” west, iv.He is survived by his wife, mary; daughter, traci west sampson of nokomis, fl; son, charley roy “chuck” west, iii (debi) of suwanee, ga; sister, wynona bonomi (aldo) of bradenton, fl; brothers, allen west (janie) of charleston and steve west (grace) of south charleston; 4 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-grandchild. a celebration of life gathering will take place at 4:00 p.M., tuesday, january 3, 2017 at the little creek country club, south charleston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of charley to: kanawha-charleston humane association,
1248 greenbrier st, charleston, wv 25311 and/or eastbrook nursing care and rehabilitation, 3819 chesterfield ave, charleston, wv 25304.
