Obituary
Cheryle M. Hall, 79, passed away September 29, 2023, from pancreatic cancer at CAMC Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Elaine Saladini, brother Jack, and sister, Barbara.
Cheryle was the long-time Clerk of the West Virginia Court of Claims, and a 50-year member of the WV State Bar, where she served on the Elections Committee and the Government Lawyers Committee.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 55 years, Marlin D. Hall, son Josh R. Hall of Pittsburgh, daughter Dr. Laine Gawthrop, son-in-law Brian, and grandsons Ross, Leo, and Toby Gawthrop of Seattle; and goddaughter Maria Elena Casey, her husband Rob, and their children Jack and Annie of Atlanta.
Cheryle was a strong supporter of education and served for many years on the Parent Advisory Councils at John Adams Jr. High and George Washington High School, where she was elected President of both Councils. She worked tirelessly during her tenure as a member of the Kanawha County Board of Education. An avid reader, Cheryle was a devoted member of her Book Club, serving as its “scribe” and thoroughly enjoying the monthly meetings. She was a former member of Charleston City Council and the Children’s Therapy Clinic Board of Directors.
Cheryle was ready to help anyone at any time, always thinking of others before herself. She lived an extraordinary life of service to her family, her countless friends, her church, her community, and the West Virginia legal profession. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children’s Therapy Clinic, 113 Lakeview Drive, Charleston WV 25313.
A celebration of Cheryle’s life will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.barlowbonsall.com.
