Obituary

Colton Reid Davis, 37, of Charleston/Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Charleston. He was born on December 23, 1988, in Wheeling, West Virginia, where he was born and raised before making his home in Charleston.

Colton was the beloved son of Patricia Reid Mucheck and Jeffrey Scott Davis. He attended Wheeling Park High School and worked as a steel worker at a recycling center.

Colton was a man who lived with a genuine passion for life and for the people around him. He was extremely passionate about weightlifting, football, and basketball. Those who knew him could often be found alongside his ever-present gallon water jug, a fitting reminder of his dedication to fitness and strength.

But Colton’s greatest strength was not found in the weight he could lift. It was found in the way he lifted people.

He had a God given influence on those around him and a remarkable ability to see potential in others, especially in those who struggled to see it in themselves. He encouraged the underdog, built up the weak, and never hesitated to help someone regardless of their circumstances. His kindness was genuine, and his heart was always willing to make room for someone who needed a helping hand.

Colton was a Christian by faith and loved attending church. His faith was an important part of who he was and was reflected in the way he treated others with compassion, encouragement, and an open heart.

He also had a special love for animals. If Colton encountered an animal in need, he could not simply walk away. He had a natural instinct to protect, rescue, and care for any animal he came across.

Those who knew Colton will remember much more than his kindness. They will remember his brilliant sense of humor, his ability to keep friends and family on their toes, and the way he could brighten any room he walked into. His laughter, personality, and loving heart left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Colton was preceded in death by his Pap and Nanny, Joseph and Lois Davis, his grandfather, William Reid and his Aunt “Cokey” Cora Faulkner.

Colton is survived by his children, Arriyah, Ahnikah, and Ryland; his parents, Patrica Reid Mucheck and Jeffrey Scott Davis; his siblings, Clayton (Tessia), Devin, Mia (Kain); his grandmother, Sandra Reid; Aunt Joellen “JoJo” and Uncle Dean, and nieces and nephew, Lexi, Kian, Raelyn, Amara and Willow.

Though his time on earth was far too short, Colton’s influence will continue through the lives he encouraged, the people he helped, and the countless memories he left behind. His loving heart, unforgettable humor, strong faith, and determination to build others up will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life for Colton will be held Saturday, August 29, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at:
