Obituary

Daniel (dan) stephen palausky of lake chaweva, cross lanes, wv died sunday, november 22, 2015 at 5:55 p.M. At the putnam rehabilitation center where he had been recovering for five days following extensive surgery on october 29, 2015 at camc general hospital.
Dan was born october 13, 1952 at pittsburgh, pa , he was the son of the late bernard stephen and sharon front palausky. Dan spent the rest of his life in west virginia, starting in beckley, and graduating from charleston catholic high school where he played football and was student manager of the basketball team. Dan was very proud of receiving the west virginia daughters of the american revolution award his senior year.
Dan graduated from concord university where he was active in alpha sigma phi fraternity. This affiliation continued to be very dear to him the rest of this life, including reunions he helped to organize over the years, including a very successful reunion at concord homecoming 2014. He was active with the concord alumni association both the charleston chapter as well as the university program for several years.
Dan married his college sweetheart, robin manning and had one son, christopher manning palausky, who resides in weston, wv.
The early half of dan’s career was spent as an insurance salesman and manager. Dan had a life and career change in 1987 when he quit his drinking for the rest of his life, and devoted himself to helping others. Later he met his present wife on a blind date and married kitty harter parkins on december 30, 1988. He became the step-father to, jennifer spriggel, julie shawkins, (deceased), grant parkins, and annalisa parkins lucas. Soon dan re-entered school at marshall university graduate college where he earned his master’s degree in mental health agency counseling. From 1988 he worked for the lawrence frankel institute as a preventicare trainer; then worked numerous years with shawnee hills in various positions; finishing with west virginia vocational rehabilitation center at institute. Dan developed numerous health problems during the last fifteen years which forced him to retire early.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, kitty palausky; son, chris, his children and grandchildren; grandson, zachary shawkins of washington, dc; annalisa (andy lucas) and children, austin lucas (his wiife, destiny), amber and anderson; grant parkins, and his finacee, kendra smith, his children, alexander grant parkins and addison grace parkins. Dan is also survived by his sisters, marcia (paul) urenda and her children, of california, beth (rocky) spencer of canaan settlement, tucker county and their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by his uncle jack (ellie) front of florida; aunt idy palausky of st. Louis and numerous cousins and friends, his fraternity brothers, and friends of bill w.
Memorial service and friends of bill w. Meeting will be held at 5:30 p.M. Tuesday, december 1, 2015 at barlow bonsall funeral home, 1118 virginia st., east, charleston, wv followed by a reception sponsored by alpha sigma phi fraternity and friends of bill w.
The family will start receiving family and friends at 4:30 p.M. At the funeral home.
