Obituary
David alderson king, 81, of charleston, wv passed away on friday, sept. 1st in charleston area medical center. David was born and reared in charleston, wv on august 8th, 1936. He was a graduate of charleston high school and was in the band. He attended west virginia university for 1954 to 1961 where he received his ba degree in 1958 and jd degree in 1961 and was a member of kappa sigma fraternity.
David practiced law for 6 years and was with bache & co. For one year. He then worked at kanawha valley bank and one valley bank for 28 years before he retired as executive vp. He was a member of the masons, scottish rite, shrine, and west virginia bar association. He was a former board member of sunrise, mountain artisans, girl scouts, and salutation army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, george washington king and alice alderson king and daughter alice king coleman. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, georgiana bailey king, daughter georgiana (henry) havener of high point, nc, grandchildren, amanda (blake) white of st. Marys, ga, sam coleman of charleston, wv, laura havener (matt anthony) of new york, ny, sara havener of auburn, al, and halie havener of greenville, nc. Brother, john c. King of scottsdale, az. Great grandchildren brody white and baylor white of st. Marys, ga. Nephew, george (kim) king, great nephew, fletcher king, and great niece, lily king, of chandler, az. Brother-in-law, hugh a. Bailey, jr. Of charleston, wv.
He celebrated his 75th birthday by sky diving with his daughter, alice coleman, and granddaughter, amanda white. He enjoyed tennis with good friends, wvu football, family vacations, and the west virginia symphony. His greatest joy was his grandchildren- he was always invested in his grandchildren’s futures and their accomplishments.

A private service for family will be held at a later date.
Barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston has been entrusted with the arrangements.

I Was So Sorry To Hear Of Dave’S Passing. As You Know, He Was So Very Kind To Me When We Both Worked At One Valley Bank. He Was One Of The Most Respected And Loved Executives And Treated All Of Us So Well. They Don’T Make Them Like Him Anymore . . .
