Obituary
David john bauer, 67, of charleston, passed away december 22, 2014. David was born january 8, 1947 in sioux city, iowa to frank and neva bauer.
David served four years in the air force as a military police sergeant. He then graduated from cal poly technical institute in san luis obispo, ca. After working for many years with union carbide in california, ohio, and kentucky, david and his family moved to charleston, wv, in 1989, making it their home. He worked for virginia welding (airgas), serving a term as president. David then started his own business, gsb process, in 2001, turning it over to his son ryan this year.
David was an active member of the charleston community and served on numerous boards, including u.C. Business school, the ronald mcdonald house, the chemical alliance and the heart association.
David was a beloved and admired husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His passions were his family and friends, golf, woodworking and traveling. David celebrated each day he was given and encouraged others to do the same. His cup “runneth over,” his home welcoming to all, and his courageous and positive battle with cancer was an inspiration. What david did and said mattered to those who knew him. He will live longer because he sparked something in others for the good, and his memory will continue to inspire friends and family to move forward in positive ways.
David is survived by his wife, catherine “cathi”; daughter and son-in-law, heather and ryan (voss) vossler and their children, joshua and renee, minnesota; son and daughter-in-law, ryan and michelle bauer, charleston, wv; siblings, vonnie jones (george egri), florida; jim bauer, south dakota; dick (judy) bauer, arizona; larry (roe) bauer, california; dan (kathie) bauer, california; philip gagnon, brother-in-law; vicki gagnon, sister-in-law; and david was predeceased by his parents and his sister, barb dipadova.

We Are So Sorry To Hear About Dave, We Were Both Hoping He Could Beat This. Cancer Is An Evil Monster And It Attacks So Many We Care About. Don And I So Enjoyed Our Time With You All Working Around The House. He Taught Don Several New Things, So He Will Always Be Remembered By Us Both. I Am Sure Your Heart Is Breaking And I Wish There Was Some Way I Could Help You With That Pain, But I Know After Losing Our Daughter That It Is Impossible For Anyone Or Anything To Take That Pain Away. Cry When You Want To, And Dont Let Anyone Put A Time Limit To Your Grief, Only You Know Your Sadness, Let No One Try To Define It For You. Again, We Are Very Sorry For The Loss Of A Wonderful Man.
