Obituary

In loving memory of Dennis Keith Butler who left this world on May 25th 2022. He was a resident of Charleston, West Virginia who was born and grew up in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Dennis kept in touch with most of the people he grew up with in Philly. He was a sweet and loving man. Dennis was not a high school graduate but Simon Gratz high school was the last school he attended. He loved helping people. Dennis respected his elders. He loved to kid and play around. Dennis was six foot two but he was gentle; not a fighter. He loved nice clothes and partying. His longtime girlfriend, Bri White was a comfort to him when things got rough and Miss Janice always stuck in his corner to help him see things straight. Dennis’s family loved him and supported him and all his good doings and they stood by him doing the rough times. Dennis had one brother and one sister: Calvin Butler and Kenyeta Butler, who are very sad by the sudden loss of Dennis. He had three children: Damir Butler, Amira Butler, and Aaliyah Butler who will terribly miss their father. He also had five nieces and five nephews: Sarah Butler, Markie Butler, Hariyah Lateef, and Ahmad Lateef. Dennis also had a grandmother, Denise Butler a grandfather, Madison Ellis Herman Devous, all and his mother Carla Renee Butler. So that now he is with the angels we are here to mourn him as he prepared to go on his journey.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 2nd, 2022 at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home starting at 12:00 noon.

  1. No matter the circumstances, losing a loved one is hard. Peace unto your family. May they always remember the joy that you brought to their lives. Let this keep them steadfast, until you meet them again in heaven.

    Rest in Paradise Dennis.
May Allah rest his soul, forgive his shortcomings and admit him into the highest ranks of Jannah. Ameen.

My condolences to the Family and his Children

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
    Miss me-but let me go

For this is a journey that we all must take
    And each must go alone.
It’s all part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.

  4. Amanda says:

May God give the family Peace and Strength.

Our child is 18 and Graduating today 6-1-22.

I remember when you served lunches to all the kids on your street in Philly. You loved cracking jokes R.I.P

For all those who woke this morning
to the loneliness of bereavement –
    the empty bed or chair,
    an unaccustomed quietness,
    a life now incomplete –
    may they know your presence
in the stillness of the day,
and through the love of friends
    who offer their condolence.
    And in the darker moments
may they reach out to hold your hand
and feel the warmth of the One
who has already passed from death to life
to welcome others into God’s Kingdom.
