Obituary
The team at Safe Surfin’ Foundation mourns the loss of our dear friend and dedicated volunteer, Dona Hale of Nitro, West Virginia, who passed away after a brave and courageous battle with illness.
Dona was a steadfast supporter of Safe Surfin’ Foundation and Moose Charities, giving her time, talent, and heart in service to others. She was especially known for her exceptional desktop publishing and editing skills, earning awards for her work and sharing her remarkable talent generously. An accomplished writer and extraordinary volunteer, Dona’s contributions helped strengthen our mission and elevate the work we do.
For 30 years, Dona and her husband Jim Hale, Regional Manager (Eastern Division) and former State Director of West Virginia, were truly a team. Wherever Jim served the West Virginia Moose Association, Dona was faithfully by his side—supporting him, uplifting others, and working tirelessly to help the organization and its members thrive.
Above all, Dona was devoted to her family. She and Jim shared a loving marriage of 30 years and were blessed with five adult children, eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy and pride.
Dona’s kindness, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed, but her legacy of service and compassion will live on in the many lives she touched. We are grateful for her friendship, her contributions, and the example she set for all of us.
Our hearts and prayers are with Jim, their family, and the West Virginia Moose community during this time of loss.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dona’s name to Moose Charities at https://www.moosecharities.org/giving/ or Moose Charities, 44 N. International Drive, Mooseheart, IL 60539.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.barlowbonsall.com.
Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
