Obituary

Dorothy thomas morgan ramsey, 95, of saint albans (formerly of charleston) peacefully passed away at home on january 7, 2018 after a long illness. She was born on november 21, 1922 in sissonville, west virginia to the late john calvin thomas and florence mae haynes thomas. She also was preceded in death by all of her siblings””otie and roy thomas and hilda thomas bradley, and her husbands, w. E. Morgan and earl ramsey, and a step-daughter, clarinda jo harpold.

Dorothy was a homemaker, an office manager for a family construction company and real estate firm, a full-time employee of the u. S. Census bureau, and a volunteer for many organizations including the american red cross, aarp, the wv cultural center, the wv attorney general’s office, and the charleston police department. She was an elected member of the silver-haired legislature. She was a long-time member of the park avenue church of christ and recently attended worship service at the washington street church of christ in saint albans as her health permitted.

She is survived by her son, ernest byrne morgan and his wife, debbie, and daughter, anna mae morgan mccormick and husband, dr. Richard mccormick; step-daughters mary belle morgan rhodes of virginia beach and linda morgan wallace of ripley; grandchildren james (jamie) morgan, todd morgan, dr. Beth wolfe, dr. Rikki lowe, and jonathan mccormick; great-grandchildren daniel morgan, caleb morgan, cameron morgan, allison lowe, morgan lowe, bindi lowe, michael lowe, cayleanna mccormick, raelynn mccormick; special cousin katherine casto, and many nephews, nieces, and a host of friends. The family extends special thanks to her hospice caregivers melinda boggess, kim cyrus, and jennifer kirsch.

Funeral service 1 pm friday, january 12, 2018 at barlow bonsall funeral home, 1118 virginia street, east in charleston with minister steve poyet officiating. Burial will follow at the beane cemetery, sissonville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm thursday, january 11th and 1 hour prior to the service on friday, january 12th .

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to hospicecare, 1606 kanawha blvd. W., charleston, wv 25387.

    Ernie, Anna Mae And Family Our Hearts Are With You Now; Knowing How Difficult This Time Is But Also Knowing You Will Receive Comfort In Unexpected Moments That Will Stay With You. Dorothy Always Brightened Our Days When We Saw Her. She Was A Wonderful And Witty Conversationalist. She Always Made Us Laugh (While Reminding Me What An Ornery Child I Was) And Still Gives Us Hope That We Too Can Live Long, Productive, Serving Lives As She Did. She Was A Fine Example For Us All.
