Obituary

Dr. Brenda Reyes-Pulido, 84, of Charleston, WV, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025.

Brenda was born on July 20, 1940, in Manila, Philippines, to Angelita Encarnacion Reyes and Wenceslao Joven Reyes, both of whom preceded her in death. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Fred T. Pulido, Jr., for 57 years and a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

Brenda earned her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines and completed her pediatric residency at Lincoln Hospital in New York City. She went on to become a board-certified pediatrician for the West Virginia State Health Department, where she dedicated many years to the care and well-being of children.

In addition to her professional achievements, Brenda found great joy in family life, friendships, and personal passions. Family vacations of shelling with her grandchildren on Sanibel and Captiva Islands were precious and unforgettable times.

Traveling throughout Europe and making pilgrimages to Catholic shrines were especially favored activities, lovingly shared with family and friends. She also took much pleasure in gardening, reading, painting, and collecting all things hearts.

Brenda will always be remembered for her joyful spirit, generous nature, strong Catholic faith, and constant love.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Dr. Fred T. Pulido, Jr.; three children, Dr. Edward J. Pulido (Dr. Jennifer Burns-Pulido), Anne M. Audia (Joseph Audia, Jr.), and Gregory A. Pulido; her brother, Dr. Luis Reyes (Dr. Sevilla Reyes); and six grandchildren, Nicholas L. Pulido, Anthony J. Audia, Charlotte B. Pulido, Brandon A. Audia, Katherine A. Pulido, and Isabelle G. Audia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Charleston, with the Very Rev. Fr. Donald X. Higgs officiating, followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Park in South Charleston, WV.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, with a rosary at 9:30 a.m., at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Charleston, WV.

In memory of Brenda, donations may be made to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., or Sanctuaire Notre-Dame de la Salette (Sanctuary of Our Lady of La Salette) in France, two of her favorite pilgrimage sites.
