Obituary

Dr. Zenaida lapena casingal, age 82, passed away peacefully with family in attendance on january 15, 2018 in dagupan city, pangasinan province, philippines. She was born on january 12, 1936 in the philippines.

“zeny” was preceded in death by her loving husband, dr. Pedro l. Casingal, her parents, marcelo and epifania lapena, and her brothers, jesus and narding lapena.

She is survived by her sisters, leonides cagampan, nila(owens) lapena torres and her brothers, marcelo(ting)lapena, jr, and bayani(zita) lapena, and also sisters-in-law, remy lapena and rose lapena. Her children and their spouses are paul and sara, pedro and jayne, phil and rita, zemonette and wayne and her grandchildren: alex, christian, catherine, nick, mia, drew, lana, ethan, sami, makayla, and zoey.

Surviving family include eduardo and judy casingal, jun and victoria quedado, larry and remy madrigal, dods and merla casingal, and jun and nilda casingal. Dr. Casingal is also survived by numerous extended family of loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Dr. Zeny casingal’s hallmark passion was education. She received her bachelor’s degree from university of santo tomas, manila, her graduate degree from alderson-broaddus college, wv and her doctorate in medicine from far eastern university, manila, philippines. In addition to her children who all hold doctorate degrees, she helped many nieces and nephews in their pursuit of higher education from undergraduate to doctorate degrees. Her favorite phrase was “keep going.”

the family wishes to thank the extensive family, friends, doctors, and nurses, here and abroad, who helped keep her company and raised her spirits during her illness.

A novena and wake were held in san carlos city, pangasinan, philippines for her family and friends officiated by fr. Rey domagas. For her u.S. Family and friends, visitation will be friday january 26th from 3 to 8 pm at barlow bonsall,

1118 virginia st. E. Charleston, wv. .,   and saturday, january 27, 2018 at sacred heart c0-cathedralone hour prior to the service.

Funeral mass will be held at noon on saturday, jan. 27th at sacred heart co-cathedral, charleston, wv. Burial will follow the mass at sunset memorial park in south charleston, wv.

Reception will take place on january 27th, saturday from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the sacred heart grade school cafeteria.
