Obituary

On Monday, July 17, 2023, the world lost a remarkable soul as Dreamma Holley Guinn passed away peacefully at Hodges Nursing Home. Born on January 4, 1939, in Charleston, WV, Dreamma lived a life full of love, adventure and cherished memories.

Dreamma was a woman of many passions. In her younger years, she enjoyed gambling while watching horse races, in the particular the Kentucky Derby. She also enjoyed watching college football with her family as it was often a Sunday night ritual. Dreamma would volunteer with her late husband at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart where she attended services. When she was at home, she was often found with a book in her hand, a hobby she passed on to her grandchildren at a young age.

Above all else, Dreamma’s heart was dedicated to her family. She was a devoted wife to her late husband Thomas Carroll Guinn, stepdaughter Marion AbuRahma (Guinn), son-in-law Ali AbuRahma and grandchildren Zach, Chelsea and Joseph AbuRahma. To them, Dreamma or grandma, will always be remembered for home cooked Sunday night dinners, traveling to countless countries for pleasure and to visit family, attending almost all swim meets, basketball games and dance recitals, and annual “girl’s trips” with Marion and Chelsea. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and support them through life’s challenges. Dreamma’s kind spirit and unwavering love touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Arthur B. Hodges Center at Edgewood, where Dreamma was so wonderfully cared for the past three years.

Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday September 1, 2023, at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of Sacred Heart, 1114 Virginia Street E, Charleston, WV. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

To celebrate Dreamma’s life, a luncheon will be held at EDGEWOOD SUMMIT following the burial.
