Obituary

Earl Dale Phillips Jr., 73, of Gauley Bridge, WV, passed away May 7, 2025, at CAMC General after a long illness.

He was the son of the late Earl Dale Phillips and Birdie (Rose) Phillips of Gauley Bridge. Earl was born and raised in Gauley Bridge.

Earl was a graduate of Gauley Bridge High School. He was a natural mechanic when it came to coal trucks, but his career was in the driving of coal trucks. Later in life, he became an owner / operator of his own coal truck. He was a master mason and member of Grand Lodge of West Virginia in Gauley Bridge

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Alisha Kandi Phillips, and his brother, Gary Phillips.

Surviving Earl are his sons, Derrick Phillips and Joshua Phillips, both of Kanawha County; brother, Mark Phillips of Fayette County; sisters, Phyllis Johnson of Jackson County and Ellen Coleman of Indiana; the mother of his children, Deloris Phillips of Kanawha County; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces; many friends, and his beloved K-9 companion, Hexelle.

A private memorial service will be held later this year.
