Obituary
Edwin p. Stabins, m.D. Left this world on november 7, 2015, to join his best friend and the love of his life for 66 years, maxine “noonie” stabins. In full circle, as he provided so much compassion for so many others, he was blessed with a peaceful passing.
Eddie was born on september 30, 1919, in watertown, new york. He received both a ba from cornell university in 1941, and a doctor of medicine in 1944. Between his internship in salt lake city, utah, and his pediatric residency at the new york hospital, he served in the navy as a ltjg and a physician on the ship, uss benevolence, in tsingtao, china. Eddie and noonie married in 1949. Together they shared a joyful and fun- loving life in charleston, as he maintained an active pediatric practice. They later enjoyed 30 years of retirement in both fort lauderdale and longboat key, florida.
Their love for each other was only surpassed by their love for their three daughters and their families: nancy stabins ( ray) dodson, joan stabins (tony) edwards, debra stabins, grandchildren r. Scott dodson (kara mccallum), elizabeth dodson montgomery, samuel edwards-vu (hoai-mi edwards-vu ), elliot edwards (claudia gasiorek, fiancã©) , and great-grandchildren amelia montgomery and josephine dodson.
Those who were privileged to have met eddie knew that he truly lit up your life. His non-prejudicial passion for all of humankind was summed up by his words,” it’s not who you are, it’s how you treat others!” the family would like to give special thanks to eddie’s caregivers and lisa.

It Saddened Me To Learn Of The Death Of Beloved Dr. Stabins. He Was The Benchmark Of Pediatric Care. He Talked A Mile A Minute (Like Myself And The Daughter Described Below); And Some May Never Have Always Cared For His Bedside Manner; But I Found Him To Be No-Nonsense And Kind. (He Didn’T Have To €Œhold My Hand€ Because He Was The Best In His Field, And I Knew No Other Would Be Any Better For My 2 Daughters.) I’Ll Always Remember Him Telling Me When He Came In To Check On One Of Our Daughters Shortly After Her Birth: “Mrs. Harris, You Have A Beautiful Daughter. She Has A Slight Weakness In The Muscle In One Corner Of Her Mouth But Otherwise Perfect.” (And She Is.) That Stuck With Me Because I Was Always Amazed That Anyone Could Be That Astute To Notice Something So Minute. I’M Not Surprised That His Mantra Was: “It’S Not Who You Are; It’S How You Treat Others!” I Am Sorry For Your Loss. May He Rest In Peace.
