Obituary

ELEANOR DALE MAHONE, age 78, of Charleston, passed away on Friday, April first, at Charleston Memorial Hospital, in the company of her children. She was the daughter of Harry “Sam” Comer and Hazel Comer and a graduate of Charleston High School.

Her interests included outdoor activities (fishing, hunting, and gardening), word puzzles, animals, painting, and being surrounded by family. She was an avid reader and loved learning.  She will be remembered for her love, quick wit, smiles, kindness and fierce independence up to the end of her life. She was truly an Angel on earth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Henderson, brothers Marlin, Ralph, and Larry Comer (Jennifer), and husbands Stanley Epling and Luther Mahone. She is survived by her daughter Vicky Means of Charleston, WV; her son Brent Epling (Theresa) of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Andrew Epling, Hollie Means, and Nick Means.

In keeping with our mother’s wishes, there will only be a small gravesite memorial service attended by immediate family.
