Obituary

Elizabeth nell o’neill of kanawha city, beloved daughter of the late andrew and hannah ruch o’neill and devoted sister of mary jane o’neill, peacefully passed away on saturday, june 21, 2014, at hubbard hospice house, charleston.

Elizabeth, known as betty to her family and friends, was 82 years of age and was very active both in her church and community. She was a lifelong member of the basilica of the co-cathedral of the sacred heart, charleston, serving as an outreach parish contact, visiting ill members in their homes and bringing communion to those unable to attend mass.

She lovingly and unselfishly cared for her own family, friends and her beloved pets. Betty was happiest when helping those around her.Betty was a graduate of charleston catholic high school, class of 1951. Shortly after graduation, betty was employed at bell atlantic telephone company, retiring after 30 years of service. Betty loved to travel and enjoyed her years of retirement. She was a life member of pioneers of america.

Betty’s sister, family and friends, are very grateful to the hospice staff for their loving care throughout her illness. Mass of christian burial will be 11:00 a.M. Tuesday, june 24, at the basilica of the co-cathedral of the sacred heart, charleston, with monsignor p. Edward sadie officiating. Burial will follow at mount olivet catholic cemetery, charleston. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
