Obituary

Erma s. Griffith, 94, of charleston died sunday, may 10, 2015 at home after a long period of declining health. She was a 70 year resident of charleston and a long time employee of the west virginia abc commission where she was a supervisor.

Erma was born on december 21, 1920. Her parents were the late george marley moore and myrtle deal moore of fayette county. She was the last survivor of her family of six children.

Erma was devoted to her family and her friends. She was the widow of the late william g.
Griffith, he was an educator and past principal of horace mann junior high.

St. Marks united methodist church was a spiritual home for erma where she was an active member for more than fifty years. During those years she found the closest and dearest friends of her life and cherished relationships with clergy and staff, as well.

Erma is survived by her daughter, carolyn (harry) henshaw of charleston; granddaughter, elizabeth “betsy” (nathan) railla of denver, colorado; and niece, kathy pittman of athens, ohio.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and compassion given by erma’s caregivers, susan sites and geneva faye herbert who brought light, laughter and love to her in the last years of her life.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.M. Friday, june 5, 2015 at st. Marks united methodist church chapel with the reverend monty brown and reverend janet harmon officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church chapel.
