Obituary
George A. Hall, born April 26, 1938, passed away on November 16, 2024. He was the only child of the late George H. and Mary H. Hall. He was married to Alice Canterbury Hall for 44 years. He was the father of Susan Pelakh (Boris) and grandfather of Leslie Pelakh and Ian Pelakh.
George’s accomplishments include obtaining his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph. D in civil engineering from West Virginia University. George found fulfillment by sharing his scholarship and knowledge through mentoring others.
During his prime, George was a professional engineer in both the public and private sectors. He was the owner and president of Terra Engineers, Inc., and he was employed by the Department of Highways and the Department of Natural Resources.
While attending West Virginia University, he was a member of the ROTC. He served in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam where he received his commission as a captain. From childhood to the time when he became afflicted with dementia, he was a die-hard fan of WVU Mountaineer football. George also enjoyed doing woodworking projects.
Most important of George’s life, was that he loved his family, and, in turn, they dearly loved him. He was a good man, husband, father, and grandfather.

Sorry to hear of Georges passing! I worked at the DOH with George for many years and he was a good person and a great mentor to me! He was one of the most knowledgeable geotech Engineers in WV and was willing to pass on his experience to others! Rest in peace George!
