Obituary

George h daniels, 95, of charleston, passed away at hubbard hospice house on august 19, 2017 of chronic kidney disease and other health-related issues. He was born on september 14, 1921.

He was a graduate of university of illinois in chemical engineering and retired from union carbide. He worked at the new york headquarters, was the plant manager at the luling, la location, and finished his career at the tech center in south charleston. After retiring in the early 1990’s, he volunteered with sba and also served as a mentor for score, a federal organization consulting with individuals and start-up businesses, a position he still enjoyed doing….At 95! After retiring, he enjoying building houses, landscaping, and any and all activities that involved being outdoors. He was an active participant in weekly exercise and meditation classes. He was fiercely independent, lived alone, and in control of every aspect of his life, even to the end. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife phyllis and 2 sons. George is survived by his daughter kathy, sons david and his wife pat of florida, lindsey and his wife cheryl of charleston, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 step great grandson.
