Obituary

George francis bickham died on october 18, 2017. He was born in monroe, louisiana on march 6, 1926 and grew up in mississippi and alabama.

He served jn the us navy during the ww ii and the korean conflict.   he attended the university of alabama and earned a degree in chemistry. He was recognized by chemistry department for his outstanding grades in his major.   he attended auburn university and obtained a second degree in chemical engineering. He worked his entire career for the westinghouse corporation.

His love for education and lifelong learning influenced his wife, cassie clack “sandy” bickham who earned three o degrees in home economics and education and a masters in communications, his son, george francis “bick” bickham who earned a degree in political science from wv state university and his daughter, dr. Paula bickham who obtained her doctorate at university of georgia in counseling psychology.   george himself was influenced by his mother, judith luda bickham, who was a college graduate at the turn of the century.

In the same way he valued education throughout his life, he donated his body to the osteopathic school in lewisburg, wv. He was preceded in death by his son, bick.

He is survived by his wife and daughter and extended family.
