Obituary
Harold o. Ray, 79, of cross lanes, passed away wednesday, november 19, 2014 at the hubbard hospice house, west, south charleston.
Harold was retired from the kanawha county board of education, where he was a heavy equipment operator and was also a retired marine corps. gunny sergeant with service in the vietnam war.
He was born in charleston, was a graduate of stonewall jackson high school and spent part of his life in various cities all over the world while serving in the united states marines.
Harold was also a member of the north charleston baptist church.
He loved flying his own plane, was a skilled carpenter, enjoyed gardening and woodworking and actually made several pieces of furniture.
Harold was a gentle and loving husband, father and grandfather, who always was available for anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, bud and violet bumgardner ray; and sister, maxine eary.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, sandra; children, brian ray of cross lanes, jerry wright of arizona and tina wright of winfield; sisters, judy cadle of beckley and janet tinsley of jacksonville, fl; grandchildren, sean, cora, jesse and justin
wright; several nieces and nephews; and 5 pugs and a cockatiel.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses with kanawha hospice care for all of their special attention given to harold.
Funeral service will be 11 a.M. Monday, november 24, 2014 at barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston with rev. Timothy marr officiating. Burial will follow at tyler mountain memory gardens, cross lanes where there will be full military honors performed by the
marine corps league. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.M. Sunday, november 23, 2014 at the funeral home.
