Obituary
Harry W. Adams, III (Trippi) passed September 30, 2023, at the age of 70. Trip was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Charleston beginning in his childhood, was a Christian, and died in the Lord’s peace.
He was preceded in death by his father Harry W. Adams, Jr. (1973), his stillborn son Richard Benjamin Adams (1979), and his mother, Jane Foster Adams (2002).
He is survived by his wife Becky and children Scott (Erin), Ben (Beth), Ann Stanley (Logan), Zach, and his stepdaughter Sara, along with eight grandchildren, Ella Jane Adams, Charlie Stanley, Hoy Adams, Winnie Stanley, Catherine Adams, twins James and Benjamin Adams, and Henry Stanley. He is survived by his brother Jay (wife Chris and sons Jamie, Chad, Jason, and their families). He is also survived by his cousin Al Bowles (wife Pat and their family) as well as his first wife Candy Strader (Dave). Finally, he is survived by the 1971 George Washington AAA State Championship Basketball Team family and by his Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers from Georgia Southern University.
Trip worked in a number of sales and commercial roles in companies spanning a range of industries. He never met a stranger and built relationships with others from all walks of life. Trip always saw the best in others and was a mentor and role model to many throughout his life, not just for his athletic ability and love of sports, but also for his kindness, quick wit, and sense of humor. He had the rare ability to see the entire playing field and the bigger picture in life. He passed that ability on to his children of whom he was extremely proud. He had many friends from his years of playing sports in the Kanawha Valley and loved them all.
Our gratitude goes to Doc Tiley, the staff at CAMC Memorial Hospital, and Pulmonary Associates. Special thanks go to the staff at Select Specialty Hospital (Charleston) for their loving care of Trip and our family through a very difficult time. Each one of you there is special and is doing exactly what you’re meant to be doing.
In lieu of flowers, please consider supporting CureSMA.org .
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. 16 Leon Sullivan Way, Charleston, WV, with Pastor William Myers officiating. A reception will immediately follow.

So sorry to learn of this. Trippi’s parents were close friends of my parents for decades. While I was two years behind Trippi in HS I was cheering on GWHS when they won the state championship. Thoughts and prayers go out to all the family. He was a remarkable athlete but even more so had that incredible magnetic personality.

Our prayers go out to Trippi’s wife (Becky), family and friends. Trippi was a great fraternity brother (Kappa Sigma, Georgia Southern) and friend. Trippi will be truly missed! I will see you later young man, however for now, I have a life to finish.
Sincerely,
Brother Bob Faith (Kappa Sigma GA. Southern 1970-1974, AEKDB) and Elaine Faith (wife)

Very sorry to hear about Trip’s passing. We were teammates at Thomas Jefferson Jr. High, and competed against Trip in high school when I was at CHS. He was an amazing all-around athlete. May the Peace of Christ be with his family.
