Obituary

Hayward Lee Skoglund, 71, of Charleston, West Virginia, born June 5, 1952, departed this realm at home, while asleep, the morning of October 12, 2023.

He worked as a Tool & Die Machinist at True Temper in Charleston until it closed in 1982. At the Samaritan Inn, he made cakes, pies, and helped with yard work. In 2006, he was the Public Information Officer for Alcoholics Anonymous Intergroup in the valley.

“Life Is Good” was his motto way before it was trademarked in 1994.

Hayward was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Madeline Loraine and William Sonny Anderson; his birth father, Gustav Henry Skoglund; a granddaughter; two nephews; many aunts and uncles, and close friends.

Hayward is survived by his children, Leah, Krysti (Butch), Gretchen, Sissy and Hayward; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa Taylor (Mike) and Felicia Fields; brother, Warren Anderson (Crissy); aunts, Eva and Yvonne, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that cared about him.

Per his wishes, Hayward was cremated.

There was a small gathering with some family.
