Obituary

Helen ann sutton, 95, of charleston passed away peacefully on may 18, 2015 in ellicott city, md.

Helen was born on november 14, 1919 in garwood, new jersey and was the daughter of the late donato and rose borelli casale. Helen was the last surviving member of her family of nine brother and sisters.

She attended schools in garwood, new jersey. During world war ii she worked for grumman aircraft, helping make the f4f wildcat in linden, new jersey.

Helen married the love of her life, edward walton sutton from westfield, new jersey on april 12, 1945. They were married in westfield, new jersey and moved to charleston, wv in 1956. Edward passed away in 2001.

Helen is survived by her daughter, pamela (george adams), of ellicott city, md; son, edward (roberta) sutton of mt. Dora, fl; three grandchildren, holly (james) cox of pittsburgh, pa, elizabeth (erik) davis of winter park, florida, and edward (angela) sutton of irvington, va; six great-grandchildren, james and eleanor cox, laila, bella, edward sutton and sutton davis.

Helen was a homemaker and volunteer. She worked with special education students and was active in the overbrook elementary school parent teachers association in the school’s first years. She a member of the league of women voters and the highland hills garden club. Helen was a brownie and girl scout leader. Helen loved the opera and was a long time subscriber to the west virginia symphony. She was a member of christ church united methodist since 1956.

Helen and edward were active in the charleston friendship force, visiting many foreign countries and staying with host families and in turn hosting families visiting from foreign countries. Helen and edward delivered food throughout kanawha county for meals on wheels.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the memorial fund at christ church united methodist, 1221 quarrier street, charleston, wv 25301.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.M., wednesday, june 24, 2015 at christ church united methodist, charleston, wv. Inurnment of helen and edward will be placed in the columbarium of christ church united methodist.
