Obituary

Helen Campbell passed peacefully away on December 19, 2022.

She was born on October 31, 1922, to the late Layton and Katie Foster Leach, and had just celebrated her 100th birthday with her family.

Helen was a very independent woman who lived her life as she wished. Before moving to Meadowbrook Nursing Home, she lived at Carroll Terrace for almost 20 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Thurmon Rice, Lester Lacy and Robert Campbell; her son, Dennis Rice; and daughter, Veda Apperson; her grandson, Kenneth Apperson; 6 sisters and 4 brothers.

She is survived by her brothers, Ritchie (Wanda) Leach and Jimmie Leach of Charleston; her sisters, Annette Douglas of Cleveland, OH, and Connie Jarvis of Shrewsbury; a multitude of nieces and nephews; two granddaughters, Keri Parks of Arizona and Kristen Apperson of Alabama and their families; her grandson, Nicholas Apperson of Louisiana and his family.

Per her request, her body will be cremated and no service will be held.
