Obituary

Helen Louise Rowley Walker, 93, of Charleston, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Edgewood Summit, Charleston, WV.

Helen was a 1948 graduate of Parkersburg High School and soon after, graduated from Nursing School.

She was a homemaker from 1952 to 1969.

Helen then graduated from Anesthetist School in 1971 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, and then a had a lengthy career at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, serving as a Nurse Anesthetist until her retirement in 1998.

She was also a member of the West Virginia Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Grand Matron. Her passion for this organization led to many friendships and she additionally became the Eastern Star Ambassador to Northern Italy from 2000 to 2003.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James Walker; younger son, James A. Pahl; mother, Louise Moilanen; father, John Niekie; and step-father, John Moilanen.

She is survived by her son, Phillip A. Pahl, and his wife, Deborah.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Christ Church United Methodist, Charleston, WV, with the Rev. Dr. Jay Parkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday, where there will be a brief Eastern Star service.
