Obituary
Hewitt “Lee” Cabell IV, age 71, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at his home in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was born on May 4, 1952, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Hewitt Lee Cabell III and the late Martha C. Miller.
Lee is survived by his children, Amberly Fallecker and Carrie Cabell, and his grandchildren, Tyler Fallecker, Paxton Fallecker, and Adeline Fallecker. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Carrie Lee Wolfe Cabell, with whom he remained best friends throughout his life. Lee was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Green, and survived by his siblings, Andrew Cabell, James Cabell, and Martha Cabell.
Lee was a graduate of George Washington High School and attended Potomac State College. He dedicated his career to Bert Wolfe Ford, where his cheerful disposition and positive personality made him a beloved figure in the car business. Lee had a genuine ability to connect with people and made friends with everyone he met. He had a larger than life personality and never met a stranger. Alongside his successful career, Lee had four passions that he cherished the most: his family, friends, and his love of sports and music. Lee was a sensitive soul and he continuously talked about his love for his two daughters and grandchildren. He was so proud of them and visited them regularly in South Carolina. He also had a deep appreciation for sports, such as football and basketball, and was a die-hard WVU Mountaineer fan. He also had a life-long passion as a long-distance runner. His love of jogging lead him to compete in numerous races, including the Charleston Distance Race and the Boston Marathon, etc… Additionally, Lee was a proud member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, where he attended as a child and continued his involvement throughout adulthood.
The family will have a private celebration of his life.
However, in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church or Manna Meal. Donations can be sent to St. John’s Episcopal Church or Manna Meal at 1105 Quarrier Street, Charleston, WV 25301.

I first met Lee in the GW Commons Area. It was 1967. He always had a big smile, easy conversation & quick humor. Lots of laughs! Several years back, over 50 years later, I spotted him in the old Kinko’s FedEx office, sending Christmas presents to loved ones down south. Lee was just the same, with great cheer, talking about his grand kids! He left us too soon. My condolences go to all family members.

I’m truly sorry to hear about the loss of my dear friend, Lee. His passion for running, sports, his vibrant sense of humor, and his love of music (including John Prine!) left lasting memories we all can cherish. May the joyful moments he shared with everyone he knew, family and friends, bring comfort during this difficult time. My deepest condolences to his family.
