Obituary

Hilda jayne wildt of murrells inlet, sc, passed away on monday june 18, 2018, at 80 years of age. Born february 2, 1938 in widen, wv, she was the daughter of the late james e. Young – clay co. Wv, and eulah grey young (nee bird) – braxton co., wv. She graduated from dunbar high school in 1955, where she was the head majorette, and a kanawha county majorette. She attended wvu where she pledged delta gamma sorority. She was a member of the sorority dance troupe, and was a dance instructor at va intermont ranch camp during her college summers. She graduated from wvu in 1959 with a ba degree in speech, and taught for 3 years in miami fl, where she met her future husband james wildt. They were married in 1963, in dunbar wv. In 1966, hilda became a social worker for kanawha county schools in charleston, wv. She had a very big heart and caring nature, and helped many people during her time as a social worker. After the tragic loss of prematurely born twin boys, hilda and jim adopted their daughter jamie leigh in 1968. She brought great joy to their lives. Hilda retired after 27 years of service to kcs in 1993. While living in charleston, she and jim were active members of the south hills progressive dinner group, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Jim passed away in 1992, and in 1994, hilda moved to murrells inlet, sc, where she lived until her death. She was a beloved wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, james e. Wildt – charleston, wv. And two infant sons, paul edward, and james matthew wildt. She is survived by her sister linda j. Smith – dallas tx, sons michael e. Wildt – surfside beach sc, and patrick j. Wildt, houston tx, daughter jamie l. Hayden, wilmington nc, nephew jeffery f. Smith – dallas tx, niece jodi d. Smith – washington dc, grandsons samuel r. Wildt, san diego ca, and james p. Wildt, houston tx, granddaughters alexandria, annamaria, and alexius haden – wilmington nc, elizabeth m. Wildt – breckenridge co, grandnieces blakely j. Smith – savannah ga, and karly a. Smith – washington dc.

Graveside service will be 11 a.M. Wednesday, june 27, 2018 at sunset memorial park, south charleston.
