Obituary
Lance Corporal Hugh A. Bailey, Jr., “Bubby,” 82, passed away on June 7, 2024, in Charleston, WV, where he was born and resided.
He was very proud of being a marine and a patriot. He was a machine gunner during the Vietnam war. He was a graduate of then Morris Harvey College.
An important time in his life was connecting with his very good friend, Barbara Carey, with whom he traveled West Viginia, enjoyed the latest novels, always laughing. Also, his many friends at St. Anthony Catholic Church who were very special to him. His favorite activity was biking the back roads. He was always reading and had great sense of humor.
You could always spot him with his big hat and favorite family member, his pet dog, Otis.
Younger family members found him to be a very fun uncle with games to play and tales to tell.
He was predeceased by his parents, Georgiana Schoolfield and Hugh A. Bailey, and niece, Alice King Coleman.
He is survived by his sister, Georgiana B. King; niece, Georgiana Havner; great nieces, Amanda Coleman White, Dr. Laura Havener, Sara Havener Miller and Halie Havener Williams; great nephew, Sam Coleman; and seven great great nieces and nephews,

Bubby will be missed and continually loved by his extended families. He was adventurous, fun, life of the party, fun-loving “uncle”. We love you Bubby.

So sorry to hear of Bubby’s passing. I have know him a very long time. He used to walk his dog pass our house and would stop and come up on the porch and talk. Haven’t seen him for awhile but will miss him.

Growing up with Bubby was a fun experience, he was smart and so witty! We had a large group of mutual friends that we “ran” with leaving me very with fond memories.
I would run into him over the years and am so sorry to hear of his passing.
