Obituary

Idell joseph hamady, 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on february 14, 2018.

Idell was born in eskdale, wv on may 15, 1923, daughter of the late ameen and nahia joseph who immigrated from lebanon. She was preceded in death by her husband william hamady; her sisters, wauded ameen, lucille joseph; brothers ameen (joe) joseph, jr., and adel joseph.

Idell graduated from east bank high school with honors and attended two years of college. Idell was a dedicated and loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Over the course of her life, some of her many accomplishments included raising a family of four, being a long standing member of the east kanawha estates garden club where she entered competitions and won several awards for her creative flower arrangements, teaching yoga at the ywca in charleston, wv for 20 years, and being a troop leader for brownies and the girl scouts of america. Idell was known for her generosity and warmth”¦

she is survived by her brother, frederick joseph and his wife sara joseph; children, brenda hamady, patricia wolfe and her husband lance , sharon jones, william (hudson) hamady, jr. And his wife paula; grandchildren, brett rampone, clay rampone, elizabeth jones, katherine prentice, trey jones, ryan hamady, sean hamady, william (will) hamady iii, and damon hamady; great-grandchildren, honey grace freeman, luke prentice, claire hamady; nieces and nephews, camille ameen, ira ingberg, randy and debra joseph, fred and vida ameen, janice joseph, rick and mary joseph, jeff joseph, and cecelia joseph. Idell’s family would like to express their appreciation for the amazing love and care provided by her long-term caretakers, sally rutledge, amber haynes, stacy hissom, stacy jennings, and kaye johnson.

Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.M., saturday, february 17, 2018 at first presbyterian church of charleston, wv with rev. Dr. William mccoy officiating. Internment will be in sunset memorial park of south charleston, wv. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, friday, february 16, 2018 at barlow-bonsall funeral home.
