Obituary

Irene trippett appel, 96, formerly of parkersburg, passed away april 14, 2014 at meadowbrook acres nursing home, charleston, wv.
She was born in calhoun county, the daughter of the late howard and emma busch trippett.
She is preceded in death by her sister, luretta booth, and husband, allen appel.
Irene was an avid reader and bridge player. She raised her children and grandchildren with her husband on maxwell avenue. Each family member remembers her for the love she expressed through the everyday activities and rituals that made up a lifetime of small kindnesses and giving for all around her. Making wednesday cakes, saint patrick’s day eggs, grandma’s salad, and family dinners that extended to all the neighborhood children; going on walks to feed the ducks at the parkersburg city park pond; playing uno and mississippi rat summer afternoons on her front porch; and other memories are fondly recalled. She was a compassionate caretaker.
She is survived by her children; allen (sherry) appel of upper marlboro, md, david (patricia) appel of college station, texas, and sandra fisher of charleston, wv; grandchildren, allen, leah, charles and odessa appel, amanda fredrickson and emma fisher; great-grandchildren, chloe appel, markus and matthew fredrickson.
Direct burial will take place at 2:00 p.M. Thursday, april 17, 2014 at mt. Olivet cemetery, parkersburg, wv.
