Obituary

James “jim” arthur sr., 81, of cross lanes, passed away june 12, 2017, at hubbard hospice house-west, south charleston. Jim was a graduate of poca high school, a veteran of the u.S. Army, a member for over 50 years with the pipefitters local # 625. He retired from bayer crop science. He was a christian and a faithful member of cross lanes baptist church. He was preceded in death by his parents, herman and bessie arthur; daughter, leanna; sisters, christine persinger and helena nelson; and brothers, herman jr. And foster arthur. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, janet; daughter, mona (matt) burchett; sons, jim jr. (charlotte), and  phillip (susan) arthur; grandchildren, faith (tyler) reeves, grace and joe burchett, erik and casey (brittany), sarah and benjamin arthur; sister, barbara miller; brothers, norman “jake,” gary (helen), danny (mary ann) and dorrel “peachie” arthur. Per his request, his body was donated to the wv school of osteopathic medicine in lewisburg. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.M., saturday, june 17, at cross lanes baptist church with pastor seth polk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to hospice care, 1606 kanawha blvd., west, charleston, wv 25387, or cross lanes baptist church, 108 cadle drive, cross lanes, wv 25313.
